Centre for Employability Skills (CES) provides Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) assessments under the Employability Skills (ES) Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) framework.

The English WPLN assessment can be taken as different combinations of the following five modalities:

  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Writing
  • Numeracy

About ES WSQ English Assessments

Before Signing Up:

  1. You need to ascertain your eligibility
  2. The assessment fee schemes when you sign up within the lock-out period
  3. The availability of assessment slot is on a first-come-first-served basis and registration will be closed five (5) working days before the scheduled assessment date

During Registration:

  1. You need to use your name according to your NRIC or Passport
  2. You need to print out the registration summary and receipt upon successful registration and payment online

On the actual day of assessment, in order to serve you better at the counter and before the assessment, you are encouraged to have the following documents ready for verification:

  1. The identification cards or passport
  2. The registration summary print out
  3. The official receipt

Candidates will not be allowed to sit for the assessment without successful verification.

Singapore Citizens (SCs) and Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs) are eligible for assessment fee subsidy. This is not applicable for candidates who attempt the same modality within the three months lock-out period.

The eligibility criteria include:

  • Minimum of 16 years old
  • If you are taking the assessment in order to enter National Institute of Technical Education Certificate (NITEC) courses offered by Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Ministry of Education (MOE) has set a minimum age criteria for female (18 years old) and male (20 years old - after serving National Service)

Individuals who have not gone through or complete the WPLN training programme after pre-training assessment have to observe a three months lock-out period between assessments. This guideline would not apply to those who have attended and completed the recommended WPLN training programme.  

Typically, there are two (2) scenarios that you can submit a reschedule request, subject to availability of assessment slots: 

  1. The request is not later than five (5) working days before the assessment date.
  2. The request is less than five (5) working days before the assessment date or after the assessment date. For request after the assessment date, documentary proof is required to be submitted via email or fax within one week after the assessment date for the provided reasons. Examples of acceptable reasons are medical or compassionate grounds. 
The request can be submitted by contacting this hotline (6785 5785) during office hours.  The reschedule request can be acceptable only once. Any rescheduled assessment date must be within one (1) month from the initial assessment date. 
 
Any reschedule of assessment dates request received after 5:30pm on Mondays to Fridays will be considered as being transacted on the next working day. Reschedule requests received on Saturdays and Sundays (including gazetted public holidays) will be considered as being transacted on the next working day.
 
SSG reserves the rights to request for additional information to support the rescheduling of an assessment date.

Employability Skills (ES) Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ)  English Assessment

For Reading, Listening and Numeracy assessments, you will be able to receive the levels attained immediately after the assessments.

For Speaking and Writing assessments, you will receive the levels attained approximately 2 to 3 weeks after the assessments as the scripts will need to be marked by a panel of experienced scorers.

The cancellation of assessment request must be made no later than five (5) working days before the assessment date. 

You will need to ascertain your eligibility prior to assessment registration as there will be no refund.

There will be no refund for candidates, who are barred from taking the assessment due to the violation of the rules and regulations set by the assessment centre, in addition and not limited to:

  • Failing to bring photo identification such as NRIC or Passport
  • Being late for more than ten minutes after the designated assessment start time
  • Did not attempt the assessment on the rescheduled date

All refunds will require at least nine (9) weeks of processing time and a cheque shall be sent to you via post.

About e-Services (Individuals Login)

Please note, that only the following groups of users are eligible to register for SingPass:

(a) Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident
(b) Employment Pass and Personalised Employment Pass holders
(c) EntrePass holders
(d) S-Pass holders
(e) Dependant Pass holders (of EP, PEP, EntrePass and S-Pass holders)
(f) Long Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) holders
(g) Selected Work Permit Holders who require SingPass authentication to perform e-Service transactions.

About e-Services (Organisations Login)

Singapore Corporate Access (or CorpPass) is a one-stop authentication and authorisation service, for corporate users to transact with Government agencies online on behalf of their organisations.

You may register for CorpPass as of today.

 

In the meantime, you will still be able to continue using your EASY account to transact with CES until the progressive roll-out of CorpPass completes by end of 2017. Entities are strongly encouraged to register for CorpPass before the end of the transition period.

You will need to be assigned for the following Employability Skills WSQ (ESW) roles:  Approver or Preparer.

 

The ESW Approver can:

•       View and make assessment bookings

•       Manage the company’s profile information

 

The ESW Preparer can:

•       View and make assessment bookings

Please contact the CorpPass Administrator of your parent HQ to request for them to create user accounts and assign the relevant CES Online Booking e-Portal roles (ESW Approver/ESW Preparer).
